First Neurontin Lawsuit is Dismissed During Trial

Posted On: July 30, 2009 by

Bizarre outcome for the first Neurontin trial. The family agreed to dismiss the lawsuit in the middle of trial after an anonymous donor - huh? - offered to put money in a trust for their 10-year-old daughter, according to Mark Lanier, the family’s lawyer. Bloomberg has a compete article on the case which does not have the amount of the trust, but I'm told the anonymous donor offered $50,000.

It is hard not to speculate who the anonymous donor is. Who would offer a little girl money contingent on her dropping her lawsuit? Pfizer? Oliver Stone would buy that one. A lawyer with a lot of Neurontin cases who did not want this one to go to verdict? An anonymous person who is not a product liability lawyer as others have suggested? Who knows? Crazy story.

I have been on neurontin for...I estimate...around 10 years? Originally prescribed for, you guessed it, Bi-Polar Disorder. Trying to go off of it (several times) has always been a horrible experience. So, being that "no real harm" could come from it, I was kept on the drug. I still take it. 800 mgs 4 times a day! Yup thats right. 3200 mgs. To top it off, I have undergone a quite severe loss of weight due to diabetes. I've gone from 160 lbs, to 110 lbs. I have experienced many of these symptoms/side effects. I was wondering...am I still eligible for compensation? My life, or lack thereof over the past 10 or so years, would make for a quite effective and obvious "exhibit A" Also, how the heck do I get off of this stuff??? So far, I've found it to be quite impossible. I think I would rather go through opiate withdrawel than what I feel when I begin cutting back my neurontin. My life has passed me by and I blame Neurontin. Please help. Thank you for your attention to this matter.
