The FDA yesterday raised from 19 to 62 its estimate of the number of people who may have died as the result of the Baxter heparin recall.
Regrettably, this number is going to continue to rise well past 62 fatalities. Our law office alone has received calls in scores of heparin related death cases. I found out I had lupus in june 2008 so the doctors put me on blood thinners. I found out I was pregnant in August 2008 and the doctors put me on Heparan to thin my blood out. In January 2009 I found out my baby died. The doctors told me they didn't know why he died. Could it have been the heparan? if so what should I do?

My father passed away on March 27, 2009. He went to the hospital for a procedure to improve his bloodflow as he had PAD. He was also a dialysis patient. The doctor told me they took him off heparin because they thought he was having a reaction to it. He died much faster than they thought he would. He was awake and responsive just minutes before he passed. If this was the same heparin that was recalled, why was the hospital still using it in march? He had heparin therapy most of March.
